Is it ok to share other people’s content on social media?

Sharing other people’s content can be a convenient way to connect with your followers and show off a little personality. But just because something is published online doesn’t mean it’s there for anyone to use. Every image shared online is copyrighted by the creator. That said, before you share an image, you need to ask permission to share it. There are just a few simple steps to properly share another user’s content:

  1. Determine who the original creator of the image is
  2. Leave a comment on the photo or send a direct message asking for permission to share it (make sure you are asking the original creator for permission)
  3. Once granted permission, repost the photo and give credit in the caption
  4. Tag the user in the photo
